New Moon lawsuit!

Filming has been halted because Stephenie Meyer is facing a lawsuit from a former college roommate Heidi Stanton! Stephenie and Heidi shared a room back on Brigham Young University, Utah. Heidi filed her lawsuit on April 14th.

Heidi says in the legal papers “Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together.”Stephenie Meyer has always said that the vampire story came to her in a dream.

So allegedly, this Heidi wrote a short story about vampires years ago. Then her old college buddy (or frenemy?) writes this huge book about, yes, vampires! It turns out to be a HUGE bestseller and this old roommate is on tv 24/7 talking about it.  And it gets turned into a major movie series. And you wait, what, five YEARS to go see it? And not even read it? Personally I´m thinking “yeah Right!”

Alas for all the fans, filming of New Moon has been put on hold due to to this legal battle! Will they still make the deadline?!
